Team Chesapeake Metal Prep to Weld Struts in Place [Photos]
Aviation Institute of Maintenance – Team Chesapeake is moving forward with the upper wing installation. Students, Chaez and Karl are prepping the metal for welding. We should have the cabane struts positioned for a complete weld very soon. Also notice the attachment points that are ready for cable connection. All these parts are made here at the school by students under the supervision of a certified Airframe and Powerplant mechanic. Next we have James Lester doing his magic in welding all the parts together! Please click on the pictures to enlarge and check back soon for the complete installation/welding of the cabane struts.

Our new segment here shows how we started this project back in 2007.
Many Instructor’s and students have helped with this aircraft. In the first picture Instructors James Maupin far left and Joe Eggers is far right is showing a student how to bend our first piece of metal for the lower fuselage. Student is holding a temperature gun.
